Ordering FAQ’s

    Getting started
-First you will need to send me a photo of your dog.
-You can email it or snail mail it to me.
-Please be sure to send a clear picture of your dog and feel free to send a few different copies.  Click here to review how to take a photo of your pet. Your photo’s will be returned to you as soon as I scan them if they are mailed in. If you want a specific background you can send a photo for reference or give me a general idea of what you want the background to look like. If background is not important to you I will use my own discretion.

Is there an additional cost for another pet?
No. If you want another pet in the portrait just include the photo. It can be a separate photo.
The price will remain the same.

Is there an additional cost for adding a person to the painting?
Yes. Please enquire about the price.

   Do the portraits come framed?
No. Framing is very individualized; dependent on where you plan to hang your portrait, personal color preferences and varying costs. I feel that it is best for you to choose your mat and frame.

Do I need to make an initial deposit?
An initial nonrefundable deposit of $100 is required for paintings 11 x 14 or smaller. A $200 deposit for larger paintings. The deposit will be deducted from your total cost. I accept credit card payments via Paypal.  If you prefer to send a check please contact me.  When the painting is finished I will email you a photo of it and upon your approval we will finalize the transaction.

   How long does it take?
-How soon you get your portrait is dependent on how many other commissions I am working on. Once you contact me I will let you know within 24 hours what the length of your wait time will be.
-On average, turnaround time for pastels and acrylics is 2 weeks and up to 2 months for oils. If you have a special occasion in mind, I will arrange to finish your portrait within the available time.

How much is the shipping cost?
The cost of shipping and handling is included for small works. For larger pieces the price is determined just before shipping and I will contact you about the various methods and prices..

How can I be sure that my painting will arrive undamaged?
I carefully ship all my paintings.
For pastels:

First they are mounted on a 3/16″ or heavier foam core board that is 2″ larger all round the artwork. The artwork is then taped on 4 corners to the board. Then glassine paper (a smooth surfaced clear paper that does does not act as a magnet for the pastel particles) is taped securely on all sides.

Another foam core board the same size as the first one is placed over all and taped securely.

This is then placed into a packing box that is slightly larger than the foam core

As an additional precaution your painting will be insured.
If by any remote chance the painting is damaged (proof will be required) I will fix the problem area or paint a new portrait for you.
